Phthalates

Introduction

Phthalates are multifunctional chemicals that are used in a variety of consumer products including cosmetic and personal care products. Dibutyl phthalate (DBP) is used as a component of latex adhesives. It is also used in cosmetics and other personal care products, as a plasticizer in cellulose plastics, and as a solvent for dyes. The impacts of phthalate exposure on human health have also been extensively reviewed and reported by the National Toxicology Program-Center for the Evaluation of Risks to Human Reproduction many evidences shows adverse health effects such as neural and immune disorders, infertility, and late-onset complex diseases (cancers and diabetes).
